In total, European air traffic has cut down by 15 percent due to the elements.

Air services in Europe could be paralyzed until the end of the weekend because of the low visibility in the air due to the volcanic dust.

Last time the volcano in Iceland erupted almost 200 years ago - in 1821 and 1823 years. The seismic activity of the volcano began to appear again after Christmas and there were about thousand aftershocks until March of this year.

On 25th of March there was a steam explosion in the crater of the volcano, because of the water of the melted glacier that got inside. After that the eruption shifted to a more stable phase. On 14th of April, after the re-eruption of the super volcano, the Icelandic authorities declared a state of emergency, decided to evacuate more than 800 local residents from the zone of disaster.

As a result a cloud of volcanic ash was formed. The super volcano has not been active for 200 years. Hundreds of flights were canceled in most parts of Europe and in many countries closed their airspace.

There are so many problems in Europe and whole the world due to the super volcano that this disaster cannot be compared with any other natural disaster, except floods in the beginning of the century. A cloud of ash, hanging over the northern Europe, doesn’t stop to terrorize the population of the region. Thousands of passengers couldn’t fly home for three days because of the ash. Meanwhile the Iceland volcano keeps on going throwing new portions of ash.

British airspace is almost completely closed. Aircrafts with official people don’t fly either. Most flights will be allowed not earlier than after 7 am on Sunday. More than 570 flights in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England were canceled.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin had to cancel his visit to Murmansk. The head of the Norwegian cabinet suffered the same fate. He couldn’t get home after his visits to the U.S. and Mexico. In fact he "stuck" for uncertain times in New York.

The reason of all these troubles is the volcanic eruption, started in Iceland near the glacier Eyjafjallajökull, and which caused ash and steam pollutions into the Iceland air. The crater of the awakened super volcano was thickly coated with ice, which melted after contact with hot magma and poured down in the form of powerful streams of water. The Icelandic authorities urgently evacuated hundreds of residents from dangerous areas.

Representatives of the European Services, responsible for air navigation, are predicting that the flight restrictions in the north-west of the continent will last for at least two days. It is possible that additional areas of airspace will be announced to be non-flying soon. As a result the European airport management advises passengers to check electronic-terminal displays by the Internet or to call to the airport before leaving home.

The latest news in the Volcano eruption in Iceland reports that according to Russia Today, 64,000 european and International flights were cancelled since the Volcano called Eyjafjallajoekull (Aside: someone tweeted that whoever named this volcano must have fallen asleep on the keyboard!) erupted April 14th.

Now, even with the news of the flight cancellations and reports of new eruptions, some airline official are convinced that they can resume normal service after conducting successful test flights. They say that with the exception of Iceland, European air space is safe. This while the new eruption is reported to have sent a new ash cloud toward Britain.

This effort is being pushed by the British Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis, who said "I wish to establish, as a matter of urgency, whether some safe flight paths can be identified and opened up to flights."

The urgency is due to the Worldwide economic loss, estimated at growing to a potential one percent to two percent of European Gross Domestic Product.

But this blogger thinks the economic loss is one the World should bear if it means saving lives. The weather is unpredictable enough as it is with the existence of the giant ash clouds. All it takes is one fatal air flight to prove that it's dangerous, but why temp such a possible fate?

projections from the U.K.'s Met Office, which monitors volcanic eruptions as part of a global network of Ash Advisory Centers, show the ash cloud already reaching as far as Newfoundland, explained Bob Syvret, a forecaster for the agency.

"The latest graphics that we've issued suggest that the tail end of the plume might just get into the far east of the Newfoundland area," he told FoxNews.com.

But breathe easier, travellers: "It doesn't look a risk for North America" at this point, said Syvret, adding that the cloud would "probably stop around the Newfoundland area, and then move north into Greenland."

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirmed the report from the Met Office, noting that the Met's projections "do show an extension westward across the North Atlantic."

A new eruption of the Icelandic volcano last night threw plans to get Britain flying again into chaos.

Air passengers who were told their flights would be resumed today from UK airports had their hopes dashed after more cancellations were announced.

A new ash cloud heading towards the country has forced all London Airports to remain closed, while others in England might be open from 1pm, but this was not certain, and Scottish airports will open at 7am.

BA had planned to resume flights from its London airports today but last night they were forced to cancel those plans.
